Getting to Arena Stage By Car1101 Sixth Street, SW

From Rockville

Take I-495 south into Virginia. Exit at the George Washington Memorial Parkway and follow the signs to Washington. Take I-395 North exit (14th Street Bridge). At the end of the bridge, take the right fork and exit Maine Avenue at the light. Arena Stage is three blocks ahead on the left.

From I-395 in Virginia

Take I-395 to Washington over the 14th Street Bridge. From this point, follow directions from Rockville (above).

From Baltimore

Take the Baltimore-Washington Parkway (I-295) south to Route 50 West. Route 50 becomes New York Avenue; take New York Avenue to I-395 South. Turn left; go through the tunnel and follow the signs to the 7th Street exit. At the light, turn left. At the third light, turn left onto Maine Avenue. Arena Stage is one block ahead on the left.

From Bethesda/Upper NW, DC

Take Massachusetts Avenue towards downtown around Sheridan Circle and Dupont Circle to 9th Street, NW. Turn right onto 9th Street. Follow 9th Street across Constitution Avenue and through the 9th Street Tunnel. Stay in the center lane in the tunnel and follow sign to Maine Avenue. Turn left at the light at Maine Avenue. Arena Stage is three blocks ahead on the left.

From Southern Maryland

Take Suitland Parkway towards Washington and cross the Frederick Douglass Bridge. After the bridge, merge to the far right lane to avoid the underpass and to get to the traffic light at M street. Turn left on M street. Arena Stage is approximately one half mile ahead on the right.

By Public Transportation

The Waterfront-SEU station, on the Green line, is located at Waterside Mall, 4th and M Streets, one block East of Arena Stage.

By Taxi

Arena Stage will gladly call taxis for patrons. Reservation forms can be found in the theater lobby and should be filled out before the performance. Service will depend on the response of the taxi company.

Parking at Arena Stage

On-Site Parking: Arena Stage offers subscribers discounted parking ($15 per show) in the lot located directly under the Mead Center on a full-season, pre-paid, reserved basis. Single ticket buyers may purchase parking under the building in advance for $18 (based on availability) or on a first-come, first-served basis on the day of their performance for $20. The entrance is located on Maine Avenue between Sixth and Seventh streets and exits onto Sixth Street. To add parking to your subscription or single ticket purchase, please call 202-488-3300.

  • When you arrive, you will be directed to a parking spot by an attendant.
  • You may be asked to leave your keys with an attendant.
  • To quicken your exit, validate your ticket with an attendant before leaving the garage.
  • After the show, if you have your keys, please go straight to your vehicle and exit.
  • If an attendant has your keys, please wait in the designated waiting area - the attendant will bring your car forward.

  • Handicapped parking is limited but may be reserved before your performance. Available spaces will be sold to nonsubscribers for $18 on a first-come, first-served basis. Valid handicap parking tag must be presented for purchase.

    Off-Site Parking: Parking is available for $11 at 1101 Fourth Street, SW by the Metro station. Enter at 1101 Fourth St., across from the Safeway. It is a short walk around the corner to the Mead Center for American Theater at 1101 Sixth St. The lot is available on a first-come, first-served basis on the day of the event only, and payment will be collected at that time. Please visit the Visitors Services Desk as you exit the Mead Center to have your parking ticket validated if you entered the parking garage before 5:00 p.m. on a weekday. After 5:00 p.m. weekdays, or all day on weekends, you may now prepay for your parking at the "Pay Station" in the garage for only $11.

    As a benefit of their support, CAST and Inner Circle members have access to discounted (and complimentary at some levels) parking both onsite and at the Fourth Street garage. For more information about the benefits of membership, visit www.arenastage.org/support.

    Street Parking: Street parking is available along most of Maine Avenue and Water Street. Meter times and prices vary upon location and can be valid up to 10:00 PM in some locations. Parking is only free on Sundays in the SW Washington, DC area. Please read signage carefully and observe parking restrictions. Arena Stage is not responsible for the condition of parking meters on neighborhood streets.

    Valet Parking Arena Stage offers valet service at no additional cost to our patrons with accessibility needs who have booked their parking in advance by contacting the Sales Office at 202-488-3300. We also offer this service to all of our patrons based upon availability for $25 without advance booking. To take advantage of this service, simply pull up at the main entrance to Arena Stage on Sixth Street and a valet will assist you. Valet parking is available one hour before show time for all performances.
